Health pass and vaccination in the UK
From 9 August (30 September for young people aged between 12 and 17 years), you must present a “pass sanitaire” (“health pass”) to access a number of public places or activities. Three types of proof are accepted: proof of full vaccination, proof of a test less than 72 hours old or proof of recovery from COVID-19 more than 11 days ago and less than 180 days ago. Verification is carried out by QR code, which may be presented in digital or paper format.
QR codes issued by the NHS after full vaccination are now recognized by the TousAntiCovid app (https://www.gouvernement.fr/info-coronavirus/tousanticovid).
If you have completed a full course of vaccination but do not have a QR code (this applies to Scotland, Northern Ireland, Jersey, Guernsey, the Isle of Man and Gibraltar), you may apply for a “pass sanitaire” with a QR code. Please note, this is currently available only to French nationals living abroad and their beneficiaries (https://www.diplomatie.gouv.fr/fr/le-ministere-et-son-reseau/actualites-du-ministere/informations-coronavirus-covid-19/demande-de-passe-sanitaire-en-cas-de-vaccination-a-l-etranger-hors-ue-procedure/).
The “health pass” consists of the presentation of one of the following three forms of medical proof in digital (via the TousAntiCovid app) or paper format:
1. Vaccination, on condition that people have completed a full course of vaccination and left the necessary period of time after the final injection, i.e.:
7 days after the second injection for double-dose vaccines (Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca).
28 days after the injection for single-dose vaccines (Johnson & Johnson)
7 days after the injection for vaccines for people who have previously had COVID-19 (only one dose).
2. Certificate showing a negative test taken less than 72 hours ago
3. A positive RT-PCR or antigen test result showing recovery from COVID-19, dated at least 11 days old and less than six months old.
Positive RT-PCR or antigen tests more than 11 days old and less than 6 months old (taken to date) indicate a limited risk of re-infection with COVID-19.
People vaccinated in the UK can now scan their full NHS vaccine status into the TousAntiCovid app using the QR code.
Your NHS QR code (the most recent one possible) is recognized by the TousAntiCovid (TAC Verif) app, which checks the validity of QR codes.
Note on children: to take into account the specific situation of certain categories of people, the obligation to have a "pass sanitaire" (health pass) in France has been postponed to 30 September for children aged 12 to 17 (https://www.gouvernement.fr/vaccination-et-pass-sanitaire-ce-qui-change).
Reminder of the requirements for a full course of vaccination and for the necessary delay following the final dose:
1 week after the 2nd injection for two-dose vaccines (Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca);
28 days after the injection for single-dose vaccines (Johnson & Johnson/Janssen);
1 weeks after the injection for people who have previously had COVID-19 (only 1 injection needed);
France recognizes the AZ-Covishield vaccine, so it is possible to travel to France with this type of vaccine if you have been fully vaccinated.
How do I prove I have been vaccinated?
1/ By downloading your pass through the mobile app NHS App
N.B. The NHS App is different from the NHS COVID-19 app
We advise you to do this now, to check that you can prove your vaccination status using this app.
2/ Via the NHS website
If you cannot prove your vaccination status via the app, please visit the NHS website and register now to access your status online. You can then download and print your PDF document.
Were you vaccinated in Scotland?
You can now apply online for a record of your vaccination status at: https://www.nhsinform.scot/covid19status
3/ Call 119 in the UK
If you cannot download the NHS app or access the NHS website, you can call 119 in the UK and ask for a letter about your vaccination status, which you will be sent by post.
You may do this only if:
You should receive your NHS letter within seven days.
